The storm subsided outside. What an unpleasant 3 days they had spent in this cave Tara thought to her self.
"let's get out of here. I am sick of this cave" Doug said as he stood up and stretched. There were murmurs of agreement. Tara stood up her body ached from the hard cave floor, she picked up her laser rifle and ruffled Dogmeats head.
"Come on boy let's head home"
She walked out into the day light, let her eyes adjust and scanned the area. Knight Hudson was already out and patrolling the area. He spotted the people emerging and headed over to Tara.
"No sign of anyone or anything. That I can see. I need to head back" he said his voice distorted through the power armour.
"Thank you for your help Knight Hudson. You will be always welcome at Sanctuary Valley" Tara said,
Knight Hudson nodded,
"Thank you, I shall tell my superiors about Sanctuary Valley and ask if they know anymore about Knight Carmine. Look after these people Tara."
A pang of pain ran through Tara as he mentioned her husband or potentially her husband.
"Thank you Hudson" she slapped his armoured shoulder.
"Ad Victorium" and with that Knight Hudson strode off.
The band of survivors made their way to Sanctuary Valley as they got closer Jess stopped the group.
"Feral Ghouls! Must have moved in with the rad storm"
"Feral Ghouls? I'm assuming bad. So let's go clear them out" Tara said with a sigh. She checked her laser rifle and heard Jess and Doug checking their guns.
Here is the start of my home brew campaign for Fallout Wasteland warfare. Tara's fight to survive and find out what happened to her husband. First up reclaiming her town back from feral ghouls to make a settlement .

Turn 1
Tara starts the action of by moving towards the town and firing at a ghoul causing 2 damage. She tries a quick action shot but misses. Some of the Ghouls seem in a dormant state and don't move unless anything is near them. Dogmeat does what Dogmeat does best!

Dogmeat charges into combat! Jess moves up cautiously not wiling to firing I to the ongoing combat between Dogmeat and ghoul.
Doug moves up using experience learned from the last few scraps they have been in, he stays close to the group.
The ghoul attacks Dogmeat with two swipes but misses both times

Another ghoul is roused by the noises of combat and charges into combat with Dogmeat
The rest of the Ghouls stayed dormant.
Turn 2
Dogmeat snarls and attacks the Ghoul. Bringing one ghoul down
Tara spy's something and investigates but finds nothing useful.
The ghoul swipes at Dogmeat causing 1 damage and 1 rad damage. It then swipes again causing 3 damage and another rad damage.
Jess sees Dogmeat getting attacked and fires Into the melee. Thankfully she hits the ghoul for 2 damage. She fires again but misses. Doug steps up and also fires into the carnage
He kills the ghoul.
The Ghouls all start to stir now the gunfire picks up
Turn 3
Tara finds a desk fan amongst some rubble

She then moves into cover.
Tara never imagined she'd be fighting to reclaim her home. More of the Ghouls start to move forward. Doug finds a locked storage container but he has no idea what to do so leaves it for Tara later.
Dogmeat not in the best shape scampers over to stay close to Tara.
Jess moves forwards shoots at an oncoming ghoul hitting it for 2 damage.
Dogmeat again becomes a target and is charged by another ghoul!
Turn 4
Dogmeat is not happy with being attacked again and kills the ghoul.
A ghoul wanders over towards Doug and Jess but doesn't attack. Doug and Jess both look at each other, maybe some vestige of humanity is left?

Doug obviously bothered by these strange actions shoots at the ghoul but misses first time he then uses a quick action to move towards Tara. The second shot hits for 2 damage. Yet another ghoul charges Dogmeat
Jess raises her rifle and kills the ghoul on front of her and Doug. Using a quick action she also moves closer to Tara.
Tara shoots a ghoul down as it attacks Dogmeat. But another ghoul charges him
Tara and Dogmeat kill a couple more ghouls that are attacking them
Doug gets charged by a ghoul!
Turn 6
Doug desperately fights the frenzied ghoul. He manages to shoot the ghoul once in the swirling melee causing 2 damage. The ghoul catches Doug with 2 powerful swipes
Doug collapses to the ground. Jess sees Doug fall and moves to get a better shot and kills one of the 2 ghouls near Doug.
Ghoul and dog grapple in combat. The ghoul swipes twice at Dogmeat hitting once. Dogmeat retaliates and kills the ghoul.
Tara blasts at another ghoul causing 2 damage.
Turn 7
The Ghoul near Dougs unconscious form looked up and saw Jess. It charges forward
Jess panically shoots twice and misses both times. Dogmeat ever the faithful dog charges across the battlefield and tries to bite the ghoul but misses in the chaos.
Tara runs over also and dispatches the last ghoul.
Survivors win. (I know I've missed a turn out on the blog post but going through my notes I can't for the life of me see where. Suffice to say all the game info is on here).
The survivors now gain all the tokens on the board. From the ruins of the settlement they find;
Baseball bat
Blood pack
. 44 revolver
Pipe Bolt Action Rifle
Desk fan
Buffout
Psycho
Radaway
I dished out these items across our heroes. Doug ditched his assault rifle for the pipe bolt action rifle. Jess had some Buffout. Tara took baseball bat, psycho, radaway and blood pack.
Using the games settlement rules and the app I also set up the settlement. Just a basic one at moment. Hopefully I will have a bit more to add to it after the next game.
Tara sifted through the rubble of her house. Not much survived the nuclear blast. She did find a picture of her and Bobby on holiday in florida. She folded it up and tucked it into her vault suit.
"Hey Tara you OK?" jess asked
"Yeah just memories from another life" Tara sighed,
"It's crazy to us that this was your home, we've only known this world and can't believe that something existed before this." jess spoke as she stared at the ruins of Tara's kitchen.
"It's unreal. Doug says this place is reasonably defendable so looks like I'm moving back into Sanctuary Valley" Tara smiled, put her hand on Jess shoulders,
"you guys will be better neighbours that the Carmichaels"
