My awesome friend Alex bought me a 3rd party Norse blood bowl team for my birthday. I love the models so much. So now we know what team I am taking to the next season of Blood bowl don't we!!

I haven't named them yet but here they are in all their glory.

I can't wait to try out this team as it seems quite bashy which I like. 

I went with green to make the team stand out from my other teams I have. Looking at the pictures I need to start picking out more details I've improved lots but looking at the yeti I could have painted his tongue. That would help break his face up from one colour.  Their bases I added baking powder as snow. This hopefully makes them look a bit wintery 

Overall I am happy with them and can't wait to play them. 

Blood Bowl!!!!!

 The new season of our clubs blood bowl has started. This time round I decided to try and be a bit more competitive. It came down to humans or orcs. The fact orcs now have animosity tipped me over towards the humans. So the Smethwick Comets were born , named after Facebook friends so I can heckle them when they fail me ha ha ha my son has also entered!!! He is taking his dark elves. First two games in my son is on a free win (opponent had to withdraw) and a draw (against last year's champion) and my humans are on a draw and a win!

Oh also before the second season started they did an award ceremony for the first season. I won a trophy! I mean it was a wooden spoon but still a trophy!

Current Blood Bowl League

 I haven't mentioned it on here in a post I don't think but I have been playing on a gaming club league! My friend a while ago joined a gaming club and I've been a few times but with shift work and family life not a lot. When they started a blood bowl league I jumped at the chance . One game every 2 weeks I thought I should be able to manage, so far so good. The league's been good fun I have played about 6 or 7 games so far. I took halflings and have played dwarves, dark elves , wood elves, lizardmen, chaos renegades and black orcs. 

It's been great fun , I have even managed a few wins as well. The league gives points for touchdowns and casualties as well as wins and draws so I am second from last  n the league ha ha ha though I do seem to be providing a nice challenge for players as most haven't played halflings before.  I have had surprisingly few deaths (so far! Only half way though) and I even managed to have one match where I caused most casualties! Great fun all round and am really glad I joined up. 

40k update

 First of I need to address my little moan about the mantic plastic sprues arms and guns etc in my last blog. Sooo it turns out if I looked at the sprue more carefully each arm has a letter next to it and all you have to do is find the other arm with matching letter!!! This sped up the building process no end! So 2 squads built and some heavy weapons

One of the heavy weapons is clearly a GW model I know but the 2 at the back ar the Mantic ones

Both sgts from the Mantic sprue had to have a bolt pistol and chain sword added  but they are all prepped awaiting paint. As my unit will be called the Roughnecks in thinking of going the starship trooper grey uniform. I will have to try one model see how it looks.

So far I have managed to get my 2 Company commanders and Commissar painted!

Two of the models are from the Last Chancers set. I really like the bandaged up commissar. The rest of the Last Chancers are being painted as a veteran unit.

I have also completely forgot to mention I got a new Blood Bowl team!! In September so sorry about that

The Birthday Post!

 

Well it's that time in my life I've reached level 40! In Fallout or Skyrim that's good in real life I'm not so convinced! Alas we cannot fight the ever moving forward sands of time. Being a "big" (according to my friends and family) birthday I was really spoiled with presents. I got from the wife and kids, Assassins Creed valhalla so expect a sudden Viking addiction in the next few months (still have origins to finish yet). Also some undercoat spray, paints and brushes (they went for 40 things because I'm 40 so there was also jaffa cakes and packets of discos). My good friend Dave went all out and got me Blood Red Skies Airstrike, this is not quite a starter set but a bundle that comes with rules, airplanes and tokens......... So a lot like a starter set I guess.  I've been watching this game from afar and Dave got into it and like any good Wargame buddy got his mate into it as well!

So looking forward to taking the battle to the skies!

My sister got me some Fallout goodies, more Brotherhood of steel!

I now have a decent BoS force for Fallout Wasteland Warfare. On that subject my long time gaming buddy and best friend Alex (his blog is regularly mentioned in here) got me various bits of Fallout inspired scenary 

These will add so much terrain wise to my Fallout games. Can't wait to play again.

The mother in law got me the Rumbleslam expansion Tables Ladders and Chests!

Now I have official rules for chairs and ladders instead of making my own up!

I was also bought by my brother in law a new blood bowl team!!! The last team I really fancied out of all the official ones so most likely no more teams need buying now........... Probably

Loved the chaos team on Blood bowl 2 so now I have them for the tabletop. Just need a minotair now for utter carnage!!

I have to say thank you to everyone that got me gift and putting up with my "strange" requests leading members of my family to websites they had never seen before. Now my painting queue is huge and I have to get cracking with some games for you guys!! 

RCBBL Week 2 and 3

 

We are back!!! Sorry its been a while real life keeps getting in the way of my gaming updates. We are a couple of couple of more  weeks in so let's get cracking

Week 2

Osiris Scales vs Death Spectres

A tough match for the Dark Elves taking on the liazards. I heard it was a bit of a punch up and the Osiris Scales took the win 1 - 0.

Fury Cutters vs Glade Runners

Father vs son for this match my Wood elves taking on my boys human team. The humans punched the hell out of the woodies. The journeymen I took for the match were all casualties by the end of the first half.  A close match ended 3 - 2 to the Glade Runners!

Gnoblar Gobblers vs Eaglettes

Husband vs wife in this match up! The ogres it seemed couldn't catch the elves (as an elf coach now I can't moan about elf tactics mwha ha ha), they did manage some quality runt punting but they were beaten 3 - 4

Week 3

On to the next week!!!

Death Spectres vs Fury Cutters 

The dark elves and most experienced team took on the humans. A battle was fought but in the end the Death Spectres took the win 4 - 0.

Osiris Scales vs Gnoblar Gobblers 

A close match but the ogres throwing and kicking of runts took the win 2 - 1

Glade Runners vs Eaglettes 

Elf vs elf action! Nuffle took a dislike to the Elven Union team and hampered their dice rolls. One elf catcher managed 5 dodges only to fall on a Rush for the end zone! The Glade Runners took the win 4 - 1.

That's another few weeks done. Starting to like the woodies. They are super brittle but their speed is impressive and my war dancer with strip ball is turning into an opponent annoying player 

RCBBL Season 3 week 1

 

Here we go!! Season 3, new teams, old teams, new players and old players! The ogres are staying, the Dark Elves are staying but now we have Elven Union, a human team, a lizard team and a wood elf team! We welcome a couple of new players also! Here we go for week 1

Osiris Scales (Lizard) vs Eaglettes (Elven Union)  

2 of the new teams faced off against each other. The Eaglettes rookie coach lines up against last year's championship winning coach though minus his rats this year. The game ended 4 - 0 to the Eaglettes! The elves put on a display of speed and dodging. 

Gnoblar Gobblers (Ogre) vs Fury Cutters (Human) 

Another rookie coach (proud parent moment my 8 year old has joined the league) faces a veteran coach. In a thrilling game where my sons distinct lack of regard for any kind of looking at the odds and deciding on a sensible course of action ment crazy actions were attempted. The Fury Cutters took the win 4-2!

Death Spectres (Dark Elf) vs Glade runners (Wood Elf)

2 veteran RCBBL coaches face each other one with the highest TV team of the league. The other a brand new team who play a totally different style than the coach is used to (yeah that's me). A hard fought tactical match happened where my brain still hurts from working out tackle zones. The rookie woodies took the veteran Dark elves to 2-2 despite losing their thrower and 2 other players early on (one lineman dead already) but the Dark Elves scored on the last turn to take the win 3-2.

A good week but I'm still not sold on wood elves

RCBBL 2 Week 4!!

 

Another week done in the RCBBL! The Rat Bastards keep their  dominant form up and take a 3 - 1 win against Dog and Bone

The Gnoblar Gobblers beat the Orcicidal Maniacs. The highlights being an Ogre one turn touch down and the black Orc troll munching on a goblin instead of throwing him!!

My plucky halflings took on the Death Spectres, the dark elves not used to halfling shenanigans took a while to get started but have the halflings a plummeling reducing me down to 7 players at one point. The dark elves took the lead but a cheeky fireball from a wizard and a well aimed thrown halfling ment a cheeky against the run of play halfling touch down!

But then the dark elves reasserted their dominance and formed a cage to plough forward. My only defensice tactic I had left was to throw a halfling at the cage!! Much hilarity occurred as my halfling bounced of many a dark elf!! He finally landed and KO'd himself but had knocked down most of the cage even KO'd someone. The dark elves reformed and powered forward scoring a second touch down. The gane ended 2 - 1. My catcher broke his arm so loses a passing point (not a massive worry as he's a catcher) and one of the Death Spectres line men was badly hurt. 

Next up I have the Rat Bastards! Top of the league and undefeated. Can my little guys do it??? 

RCBBL 2 Week 3!

 

Week 3 is done and dusted! The Ogre team the Gnoblar Gobblers defeated the Necromantic team Dog and Bone 2 - 1. The Rat Bastards continued their winning run by defeating the Death Spectres. The Death Spectres lost a witch elf in the match. My team the Portland Puddings, a bunch of plucky halflings faced off against the Orcicidal Maniacs a black Orc team.  Getting a pile of inducements I took Halfling Masterchef and a wizard. In the early on on the match my treeman Custard made himself known by making a black Orc a casualty. From then on the halflings got extremely lucky, the black Orc team were frustrated with the block dice giving out push after push after push. They did manage to KO a treeman, a halfling injured himself trying to dodge away from the opposing team. The halflings tried their best having to pick there tackles but being able to go one on one with goblins helped. One Halfing was flung into a goblin KO'ing him and bowling over a troll but not breaking his armour. A Halfing catcher made hie was through the carnage to score the games only touchdown. A halfling vs goblin fight ended with both down but the goblin was killed!!! Nuffle was not having the black orcs at all, goblin using a rush (Going for it in old terms) to enter the touchdown zone failed and collaspes to the floor (Thanks to my master chef for tski g all of their re rolls) and it the last turn the Troll managed to throw a goblin who landed despite a terrible throw, the goblin landed and dodged but failed to pick up the ball one square away a from the touchdown zone! 1- 0 to the Portland Puddings. My catcher levelled up and I chose Divng Catch for him. 

Another great week! Bring on the next week of chaos! 

The RCBBL is back baby!!!! Season 2 week 1 and 2.

We are back!! New bloodbowl! New teams! But same fun and carnage!!! With a new edition coming out means new rulebooks all round (yay!). The biggest change being a new stat, the passing stat which will cut down on pesky elf linemen throwing like a star (sorry Matt). 

Let's meet the teams!

The Death Spectres are back with a new line up. The dark elf team are title defenders looking to hold onto that trophy.

Rat Bastards. The Skaven have arrived! Sneaky and fast, watch out for the gutter runners!

Dog and Bone. New coach, newly teleased team. The Necromantic arrive on the scene. The werewolves are the stars of this team! 

Orcicidal Maniacs. Brand new team from the new box set, the black orcs are the best here. This team is all about bash 

The Gnoblar Gobblers. The ogres are here!! Ogres and gnoblers are the team here. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its a kicked or thrown Gnoblar!! 

The Portland Puddings. What's that lovely cooking smell..... Oh its the halflings here to play Blood Bowl...... Or maybe eat. Hell they can do both!! With new positionals it isn't just a bunch of hopefuls anymore some of them have specific jobs! 

The season kicked off with the Rat Bastards vs the Gnoblar Gobblers. This ended up in a 2 - 1 victory to the Rat Bastards. One of the ogres had to miss the next game due to  injury.

Next up was the Portland Puddings vs Dog and Bone. A first time player vs a first time stunty player! The match kicked off, a were wolf bounded down the side of the pitch but usng halfling team work  he was shoved into the crowd who promptly killed it!! The match ended 2 - 0 to Dog and Bone. A halfling catcher and tree were missing next game. 

The first week ended with Death Spectres playing the Orcicidal Maniacs. A hard fought out 1-1 draw.

Week 2

The Death Spectres played Dog and Bone. The Death Spectres took the win 2 - 0.

Orcicidal Maniacs and Rat Bastards went at it. The skaven won 2 - 1

The Portland Puddings travelled to the Gnoblar Gobblers, missing a tree and a catcher. The Gobblers were missing an ogre. The match was a brutal punch up. An ogre was sent off, the only halfling tree knocked out for most of the match. The halflings killed a gnobbler. The ogre punter killed a Gnoblar and injured another. The halflings had to pass like a normal team which I hadn't planned on. and took the win 2 - 0. One hefty earned himself enough points to buy an upgrade and I gave him Hail Mary pass. As I have a cunning plan for future matches.

That's the first 2 rounds sorted! Onwards to the next matches. My Fling adventure continues!!! 

Not Quite Tabletop but still Wargaming

Been quiet for a while I know, Covid 19 has put a hold on a lot of stuff. I am just awaiting delivery of Victory at Sea. A WW2 naval game from Warlord Games. This was pre ordered and supposed to be released April but thanks to Covid 19 its been put back till August or late July I believe.

I've painted "most" of my minis now and honestly I just wanna play some games. Modelling and painting is fun but there is nothing better than rolling dice with friends (Usually while eating Pringles and Cherry Pepsi Max). I've got ideas for Konflikt 47, a Dragon Rampant army ready to go and Rumbleslam to show as well. The small Blood bowl league I started with friends was ace as well. We had just set up 2 leagues as we have each got 2 teams now. The champions of both leagues will go head to head in a super bowl type match. I have Halflings and Wood Elves ready for these leagues. You can find the posts about the Halflings here. Though I think they have had a  team
name change since that post.

With the restrictions slowly getting eased hopefully the leagues will kick off soon.

The one shining Wargaming light through out all this (Apart from talking about Wargaming) is the Bloodbowl 2 Ps4 league I am in, it has done wonders for my mental health especially with lockdown. After the birth of my first son I discovered a group on FaceBook called Dadsnet. It's a great support group for Dad's. It has developed into quite a community now. Within the group there formed a group of computer game dads, here in this group Blood Bowl 2 was mentioned and a few people piped up that they liked it and eventually a small league was formed. We have had a main league and various cups and smaller fun leagues running at the same time. We also try to give teams a theme from team name to player names. My Chaos Team were named after Rock bands so I had stars Throttley Crew and Black Stabbeth. My Violence Together team is called the Bakersfield Massacres and is full of 89s actions heroes and villains such as a saurus called Ming the Merciless or a Kroxigor called Chunk.
The main league has been running for almost 7 or 8 seasons now I believe, we even have a trophy that gets posted around (Soon to be updated to a new trophy especially made for the league) . Though not just with one team we have had a basic league where I ran Humans, a random choice league where your team was determined by a spin of a wheel. I got Underworld Denzins, man that was not a fun league. Then there was a 2 season league where I ran a chaos team. The latest league has just finished after 3 seasons with one team. I chose a mixed team called Violence Together. This team is made up of Orcs, Lizardmen, goblins and ogres. I mainly used orcs lizardmen and goblin secret weapons. This was my most successful team yet and I was in with a shout at the title till my last 3 games ended in disaster and dropped me out of the running (Though my Saurus intercepting a throw will always be remembered).  Next up we are doing a basic team league, so you are only allowed a team that came with the basic game or bonus pre order team. None of the DLC are allowed. I wanted to do something different to a bash team so have gone Wood elves. Slightly dreading it as they are AR 7 and I'm not used to passing teams but hey!! Let's give it a go.  A couple of players in the league want to do something with YouTube and the league so you may see more from that here if it happens. I'll keep you posted with how my Wood Elf adventure goes (I'm already assuming it will go badly, there are some amazing BB players on the league and I am not one of them ).

RCBBL Champions obtain Trophy at last!!

Thanks to the current Covid 19 crisis I have been unable to get the trophy to  Matt the coach of the Death Spectres. I managed it today!

Season 1 champions! But there are more teams coming for that trophy next season including my Wood Elfs and Halflings!

With season over I thought I would show the star player from each team. By star player I mean the player that gained the most SPP. We will start with the champions.
