2020 a Year in Hobby

 2020 what a year......... In some ways not much was different (we don't really socialise lots) some was good (wife working from home was very nice seeing her virtually everyday when I wasn't at work), I was lucky my job could be done throughout so didn't have that to worry about and some was bad (really miss the family gatherings and my kids would love to just play with their cousins). My good friend Alex wrote a blog summing up the year in Wargaming so I thought I would blatently copy him. Here's his Blog

The year started with me pre ordering Victory at Sea which thanks to Covid was then delayed till August. To stave off my hobby blues I ordered Rumbleslam (Some handy overtime allowed a boost to the hobby). Along with Rumbleslam I ordered the MDF ring as well.  When it arrived I was so happy I invested. Reading the rules it was a super simple super fun game. When I played it, it proved to be the fun game, sadly Covid meant I didn't get to play a human opponent but I have started my own little wrestling company TCW and have solo played a little tournament to get the first ever champion and I hope to start some regulars matches in a show (Blog posts really lol) called TCW Beatdown. Hopefully you have read and enjoyed the ones I have written so far.

My 15mm Barbarian army for Dragon Rampant is mostly done I added a Barbarian princess as the model was very cool. I say mostly done as is an Army ever truly finished??

My Tanks Modern Age forces were completed with a few bits bought in a sale. That game has morphed into World of Tanks which is WW2 mainly so I won't be investing more money into it as I wanted more modern tanks.

With lockdown and  school holidays most of my time was entertaining, educating and surviving my young boys but I did manage a bit of DnD on Roll 20 an online platform. Was good fun but I much prefer being in a room together. September brought Victory at sea finally and my birthday which landed me Fallout Wasteland Warfare. I've been super excited about this game as I love Fallout!! Victory at Seas is a great naval game, there are better naval simulations out there but this is a nice clean simple play through game. I also convinced my friend to buy into it so eventually our fleets will meet!!!

Covid ruined the second season of the RCBBL. We had each got 2 teams so the league had expanded into two league with the winners meeting in a super bowl type match so that would have been awesome. Thankfully I could scratch the blood bowl itch online with my dad's league the Dadsnet League or TDN for short. With lock down we smashed through several seasons which was great fun. We are on season 6.2 (we tend to run a team for 3 seasons) at the moment. My orcs the Dakka Cowboys won the first season they entered (Sesson 6) and we are half way through the next season and there are a few teams in the hunt. Honestly this group had been great for my mental health. Most of the dads are wargamers but a couple only came along because of the video game.  Eventually we plan to all meet up at Warhammer World and play in person.

The last bit of the year I embraced solo Wargaming. The TCW kicked off and I started a narrative Fallout campaign following Tara the Lone survivor on her mission to find out what happened to her husband.

And here we are. Next year I need to paint up the extra models I got for Christmas for Fallout and see what happens from there. I will get some more Rumbleslam played as that seems to be quite popular and carry on my Fallout campaign. In a unusually brave move I will also try my hand at podcasting! I have an intro cast out there. At the moment it's on Spotify Here

Is only small but I'm working on the first proper one. They will be appearing on a few more platforms but it has to be approved and the Christmas period is slowing things down.

Christmas 2020! Covid Edition

 Well I hope you all had as Merry a Christmas as you could in this messed up year. Thankfully my mom and dad are part of our childcare bubble so we celebrate together. I hope Santa brought you some new models to play with next year! 

I myself got a very cool orc t shirt

This t shirt also handily represents my Bloodbowl 2 team the Dakka Cowboys. I also got the new rules for Blood Bowl, so a while new set to learn now and I'm interested in how the new passing skill works.

The RCBBL will return when Covid allows!

Also for Fallout Wasteland Warfare I got some raiders and Brotherhood of steel

That's all for me. Though I almost forgot in quite exciting news I'm working in a podcast so now my waffle cam be in audio form. It could be terrible but I'm giving it a try!

TCW Beatdown!! Show 1. The Streak vs Hamish

"It's me Gustav Gronavich! Back again with TCWs first offering of our regular show. TCW Beatdown!!! We have a champion now the King is Triple B but for how long? Now rivalries will be settled and started week by week. Enough of my rattle, here comes the Streak making his way to the ring. His last match was a lost to Hamish so I'm guessing he's gonna say something about that! "

" The Streak makes his way to the ring, his face looks like thunder, well I suppose he did lose an 'easy' match."

Well you lost fair and square Streak!! 

" He's called Hamish out. He obviously needs to put that loss in the past. Will Hamish respond? Oh wait!! Here comes Hamish! This just got interesting"

Hamish is not backing down! 

"Looks like we got ourselves a match people!!! Let's Rock!! “

The first match of Beatdown is on! 

The Streak is in no mood and charges forward. 

Hamish uses the turnbuckle to his advantage 

Hamish launches the Half-Fling!! 

The move doesn't land! 

Hamish throws a desperate punch but that too misses.  The Streak responds by bouncing off the ropes

The Streak goes for a massive clothesline! 

Hamish dodges the clothesline and bounces off the rope himself trying to hit the flying head butt! 

The Streak dodges the head butt but not the punch that Hamish lashes out with causing 1 damage 

The Streak keeps moving and goes for a second clothesline. 

That's a huge clothesline!!!!! 

A huge Beatdown bonus means 5 damage and Hamish is KO'd 

That's it the Streak had his revenge!! 

"The Streak is mocking the fallen Hamish! Come on man show some class and finish this!........ Wait a minute, wait a damn minute what's this? Whose is this! “

" Gribo, Ex'Ocet and Bungo are all here and the Streak hasn't noticed! "

The crowd sense something is up and boo Hamish

Bungo climbs the turn buckle.

"Get down Bungo why are you getting involved!! “

Bungo leaps into the air! 

Bungo hits the Bowling Bomb for 3 damage! 

" Now Ex'Ocet is on the turnbuckle?! Someone should do something"

"The Streak is KO'd! This an assault now!"

Gribo climbs into the ring and the 3 start beating the Streak. 

"The crowd roar for the Streak, no one likes to see such a blatent assault!"

"The Streak is up, running on sheer crowd power he is up and swinging!" 

The Streak punches Ex'Ocet for 2 damage and again for another 1 damage. The crowd are roaring now they don't care about the no class of using the same move as the Streak punches Ex'Ocet again but it's blocked this time. 

" Where's Gribo sneaking off to?" 

Gribo goes for the Snot Drop while the Streak is distracted. He misses! But goes for an armbar

It's too much for the Streak! 

"Ex'Ocet is dragging Hamish across the Streak! This is cheating off the highest order!!" 

"Who are these guys? Why are they working together?" 

"Well folks this is not the start I imagined for TCW Beatdown but I suppose this is what Total Chaos Wrestling is all about! Wait a second Hamish is back up, him Gribo, Ex'Ocet and Bungo are all chanting something" 

"SWO what the hell is that, oh here comes Hamish now. Hey what the hell is SWO?" 

"Give me the Mike you numpty Gustav! Right listen here we are sick of being a joke and not taken seriously. I earned my way through that tournament and we all had to sit there and listen to how I was lucky. Well screw you guys! The Stunty World Order is here and we will take that title!!! SWO! SWO! “

“Well there you have it. The Stunty World Order! A bunch of cheaters is all I think they are. "

First match of the Beatdown week 1 all done. I hope you guys liked it. 

TCW Fight Night The TCW Final!

 

"Here we are ladies, gentleman and creatures of all types. We seen many battles all leading upto this moment. Triple B has battered his way to the final. Gun managed to skip a round but has still fought his way to be here today. This is it tonight one of these two will be our very first TCW World Champion. Our wrestlers are ready and waiting so Let's Rock!! "

Both wrestlers look up for this. Tge Bell rings and Triple B charges forward. 

Triple B wants that belt! 

Gun uses the ropes and goes for his running leg drop 

He lands the move causing 2 damage. Buoyed by this success Gun swings a punch at Triple B but the big man reverses the punch giving 1 damage back to Gun and shoving him backwards.  

Gun flails back onto the ropes which propel him forward where Triple B is waiting 

The free attack causes  another 1 damage to Gun. Gun recovers and goes for another running leg drop

The running leg drop causes another 2 damage and Triple B senses what will happen next and blocks the punch Gun sends his way. Triple B gets a wicked grin and walks to the turn buckle and climbs up! 

Good lord I thin the ring will break! 

Triple B leaps off the turn buckle and goes for the Blly Bomb Bonanza! Gun sees it coming though and steps out of the way. Gun grabs Triple B and tries for an Atomic Drop but Triple B reverses the move stopping Gun in his tracks. A mighty hand wraps around Guns throat and lifts the orc up

Boom!!! 

Triple B drives Gun into the mat! It causes 2 damage and a knock down. Triple B then steps on top of Gun

TCW! TCW! TCW! TCW! 

"Its all over a dejected Gun limps back to the locker room. Triple B celebrates in the ring. He has absolutely smashed his way through the competition and ladies, gentleman and creatures of all types I give you, your new TCW  World  Champion Triple B!!!!!! "

I hope you guys liked this competition? I had great fun making and playing it. Now to begin some wrestling shenagins. People will want that belt and we may see some new wrestlers on the horizon. 

TCW Fight Night Semi Finals. Hamish vs Gun

 

"Here we are for the second semi final. The unbelievable Hamish has made it past anyone's expectations to be here. He will take on the veteran wrestler Gun. The crowd are roaring for Hamish it has to be said but Gun won't care about that at all. So you know what we do Let's Rock!!! "

The bell rings and Hamish starts to try and pump the crowd up (in game terms he completes his crowd pleaser)

The crowd are loving Hamish! 

Gun angered that the crowd are cheering for his opponent tried his own crowd pleaser

But no one cares

This infuriates Gun and he charges forward grabs Hamish and Atomic Drops the halfling for 3 damage plus 1 damage beat own bonus.

He follows it up with a punch, 1 damage plus beat down bonus for another damage.

Goodnight!

The crowd are stunned at Guns attack and Hamish lays on the matt. Gun walks up to the halfling and picks him up 

Hamish has done so well I can't believe it's gonna end like this!! 

"Someone go and fin Hamish in the stands over there. What a show from Gun. We now have our finalists! Triple B vs Gun for the championship!"
