Birthday funds depleted!!!

The post people have been busy delivering all my online orders that I've spent my birthday money on or as a present.
First up.

My family for me the star wars rebellion game. It's an absolute beast of a box 6 inches in depth. Inside is 150 plastic miniatures to represent fleets etc. Looks great can't wait to dive in.

E-Wing from my good friends! Can't wait to break out the new fighter and give it a fly.

My first bolt action miniatures are the British Airbourne HQ. After watching  the Pegasus bridge section of the Longest Day and A Bridge To Far for many years I've always loved the idea of having an airbourne force.

Next up I needed some anti tank (not many airbourne tanks .....well I believe there is one but not great in a tank fight so I'll aim to get that later ) I got a PIAT team and a light mortar team .

Obviously i need some troops!! This section gives me a squad with a mix of SMGs, OMG and rifles.
All the models look great and detailed I just hope I don't ruin them with my painting. On that note I've gotta but some more shadea of green!

Last of all (well apart from two books from the excellent series day by day Armageddon which haven't arrived yet.) Is my 14 pounder giving my Britannia force some much needed artillery and a nice anti-iron clad threat. The models looks great and comes with a base which was good as I thought I would have to buy one separate. In my last blog I mentioned that I was worried as prices were going up and stick diminishing. Well in the Spartan games blog they announced that dystopian legions is going strictly mail order from them to keep prices low and models still available. They have many games and I guess this isn't the most popular one. So at least I'll still be able to get models though depending on price may still use some proxies he he he
Now into assembling and painting!!!

Flik em Up!

Got to play Flik Em Up on holiday with the family (the 3yr old struggled a bit but it's aimed at 8+ so he was fine with moms help). We just played the first scenario a basic shoot out between the lawmen and outlaws. You flick a counter across the board to move your character and then flick your bullet at an opponent and try and knock their model over. If you knock them over they are dead!
The turn involes one person taking a turn moving one character then then the next player etc. This is shown by each character having a hat either and once they have activated you flip the hat over. All the pieces  are great quality the cowboys, law men and cactus are plastic (there is a wooden version of the game) the buildings are hard good quality card board and the artwork is lovely.

The game board is set up

The game plays smooth and easy.  The  other scenarios introduce more elements such as dynamite amd different goal tokens.

So all in all a great game!

Games Night!

Last night me and the wife popped over to our friends for games night. All about smaller quicker games this time. First up was a game called Alpaca pace paca. The aim of the game is to have the best looking Alpaca with the longest neck but no dirt or you lose points.
You start of with small Alpaca and every turn you can take 2 cards (without showing anyone) discarding one and adding the other to your Alpaca or take the whole discard pile.

Above is my Alpaca with a few necklaces and the startings of a rather dashing scarf.  The game flows really fast you can also trade cards with other Alpacas so there were some trades flying around bolstering my opposition. My final turn came round and my Alpaca was looking not the best so I want for it and took the whole discard pile hoping I'd make enough points to outweigh the points I would lose for having mud on my Alpaca.

My Alpaca went off the table!!! I took the win as well yay!!!!
Next up was Sushi Go! This game took a bit (tiny bit really) more to set up. You get given a hand and take a card from it. All cards have points values so you have to choose what you think is best to get the most points.  The cards are all different sushi dishes and you can add extra points from condiments like Wasabai. Once you've selected a card you reveal it and set it down. The hand of cards you had you hand over tobthe person to the left and you get the hand from the right and you choose another card. You continue until all the cards are up and add up the scores. You go through a few more hands (saving dessert cards till last obvously).

I took the win is Sushi Go by one point! ! Woo!
Next up was Cat Tower, a very cute game about stacking cardboard cats. Now this game is deceiving as it looks easy and is dead hard! You are given a hand of cats and will a dice to decide how many cats you have to put on. There are a few options like upside down cats and getting other players to take your turn for you. Now I frankly sucked at this game ha ha ha ha and lost badly  (damned upside down cats!).

All together a great night was had and lota of fun. We are thinking of picking up all these games for our own family game nights.
On the model front I have made up a few pirates hopefully make the rest of the crew tomorrow night.

Have great bank holiday weekend! (for us British anyway)
