Tanks Modern Age: British and Russian Reinforcements

A new gaming shop has opened near me (well 2 or 3 miles away but that's the closest one so far!).  Its called Rogue Wargaming (Check out their webpage here. Its a bit bare at the moment as they have just started up) in Dudley Town centre. I popped over on Saturday and had a look around. It's small at the moment but as I mentioned they have only just opened. I had the kids with me so it was hard to stop and have a proper chat as I was herding them around and answering the Constant questions "Do you have that one dad? What about this one? You can't paint this good dad"
In store they had some Games Workshop and Warlord stuff to check out but also some Tanks items. Always wanting to help a new venture especially a gaming shop I opted to purchase a new Russian Tank to bolster the Russian platoon. I picked a T-72 as I have 3 T-64s already. I also got a new paint brush as well.

Early this month while I was on holiday in Dorset I visited the Tank Museum. I've mentioned this in a post here, in the gift shop I picked up a Scimitar / Scorpion light British Tank. After a bit of consideration I went with the Scorpion variant as it packs a bit more punch.
In the last few days I have assembled and painted them.

Both really alt nice kits to put together. No major issues all the bits mostly click or slide into place. I struggled with an odd tiny piece but that's mainly my bad eyes and fat fingers. My only grievance don't worry it's quite minor but I felt the Scorpion Tank is tiny (yeah I know it's a light tank) and after building it for the price paid probably could have had 2 in a pack. I know the US forces have Humvees and you get 2 in those packs. It's me being a bit greedy I guess.

After I had built them they were u dercoated and painted.

I think they look really nice. Hope you agree! Can't wait to have another Tank battle

More Barbarians!

I've completed my next 2 units of Barbarians. My chief and a unit of Archers.
These are really nice sculpts and as a new 15mm player the detail on the models astounds me still.
First up is War Chief White Wolf Asgreth and his 2 loyal wolf companions.

Its a really nice model. Paint scheme wise? Still aiming for a simple one plus I have no idea how to paint wolves (Landed my self right in it calling him white wolf).
 Below is the finished model

I think he has come out OK and the wolves don't look to shabby either.

Next up was a unit of Archers

Like the warriors I put 2 figures on each base for a total of 12 Archers. Brilliant value. My only Issue would be  the lack of different poses as there are only 3.
Now to add some paint. As they are Barbarians I didn't go for a standard colour throughout.

They came out really well also! Have a good day folks!!

First Unit of Barbarians Completed

As you've seen in a few recent blog posts  I've started a 15mm Barbarian army for Dragon Rampant.
The first unit I purchased was 12 warriors

I decided to add 2 miniatures to a 25 mm square base.
Most units in Dragons Rampant have a strength of 12. My warrior units have 12 men in so every 2 points of strength lost I will remove a base.

Painting 15mm is a new challenge for me. I don't have the best eyes but I do have a magnifying glass on a stand which helps. Also the Barbarians don't wear many clothes so that helps.
I didn't want a single paint scheme as I want to represent the wildness and chaotic nature of  Barbarians.
I'm pleased overall with how they have come out.

Coming next are a unit of Archers and my forces leader.

Pirates of the Dread Sea

From the makers off Across the Dead Earth comes Pirates of The Dread Sea. After one successful kickstarter (I backed for an Elf Pirate ) to get the first miniatures produced the second one has just finished and successfully funded also(sadly I could not afford to back this one) . This one will bring a rule book and some more miniatures (a human crew and an undead crew) to the product line. I am in the Facebook grouo so have access to the beta rules (You can join also Here) which I've just downloaded and can't wait to try. They have event cards much like the ones from Across the Dead Earth. These are humorous (Inspirational singing. Sing a sea shanty to Inspire your character) and great. They add a great mechanic to the game. Always on hand to ruin your opponents plan.

I have made a pirate crew a while back when the guys first spoke about this game. I did do a blog about it (Read about them Here
They were assembled using bits from a pile of bits though I did buy a Captain model from black scorpion miniatures.

Now to have a proper read through and make up a crew

Holiday so that's why I've been quiet

Sorry not many blog posts. I have been having a break away down Dorset.
I'm working on my first Barbarian unit for my Dragon Rampant Force.  12 warriors.

Also as I was in Dorset it was mandatory I went to the Tank Museum. Not so many photo's this time round but I got to watch a few vehicles go around the arena including a challenger 1.

In the gift shop I was excited to find products from Tanks Modern Age. I grabbed myself a Scimitar Tank to add to my British Platoon.

I'll have to add to my Russian force now so I have something to shoot at.
That's all for now. Have a good one!

Dragon Rampant

My regular opponent (Check out his Blog Here) mentioned starting a 15mm fantasy force up using the Dragon Rampant rules. I liked this idea as I used to a long while back play Warhammer Fantasy and 15mm allows me to have lots of units but not take up lots of space.  My friend decided on orcs and goblins. I went with Barbarians and we decided on a twist  where my savage barbarians  are going to attack and pillage the peaceful Orc and Goblin nation.  I even doodled a map of our fantasy land.

Beware the Barbarian menace from the North East

I've got my first unit of barbarian warriors which I'm currently painting.

My friend sent me this Link to gather my army. Its really good, miniatures and £6 for 12 figures. I've found a giant I want on another website as well.

I have to say it's a new challenge painting 15mm and with my eyes I'll most likely be using my magnifying glass a lot!
