Mistwood Marauders Wood Elf Blood Bowl Team

I have posted pics up before of my wood elf team but now I have a treeman I wanted to do a post about the team as a whole. As you can see from the title they are called Mistwood Marauders.

Sadly my roster doesn't include a treeman yet. If I play in a league this will be what I aim for. I can change the roster for a one off game.
The colour scheme was chosen by my wife as this team is to try and get her playing plus she says I always pick colours she is not a fan off.,  the silver and purple is probably more Dark Elf type of colours but I like them.
The war dancer models are really awesome I feel and can't wait to give these players a run out

I'm not sold on the Catchers as I don't like the poses but I'm sure they will do the job in game.

The other positions (linemen, thrower and treeman) are not to bad.

You get a decent variety of lineman

I prefer the thrower with the longer hair

The treeman awaiting recruitment

They look like a very fast team but a bit fragile!!! That's why I went the treeman as a bit of muscle. Will be an interesting play compared to my normal play style .

There you go the Mistwood Marauders

RCBBL Week 4 Humans vs Orcs

Another match in week 4 of the RCBBL. The Ye Olde Giants (Humans) take on the Bearwood Brawlerz (Orcs).  More Giants fans arrived for the game giving their team a boost. The Brawlerz won the toss and  elected to receive the ball.

The Giants go for a defence in depth to avoid a scrap on the line of scrimmage

The kick went up and the Brawlerz drive started as all Orc drives should start with their front row smashing the opponents line

The new addition to the Brawlerz a goblin grans the ball and runs for the wing. Other Brawlerz move up to protect him.
The Giants  defence got into motion.

On the other winger the Orc Blitzers pushed forward but were stopped by Giants linemen.

The battle continued in the centre and the Giants Lineman was smashed to the ground dead. Rip Laurence Taylor  Giants Lineman No 7.

That's a dead roll that is!!!

The Brawlerz pushed forward reorganising the defence around the goblin

The Blitzers tried again to break away but seeing the ref was distracted the one blitzer put the boot into a downed Giant

Unfortunately the ref did see it! The Blitzer was sent off, the Brawlerz coach argued the call with ref pointing out that the blitzer was merely trying to help the Giant player up. The ref sent the coach off as well!!!!!

The Brawlerz sensing their attack on the wing had stalled They shifted tactics, a fortunate case of stupidity on the Giants ogre (to be fair he spotted a very nice daisy) a Brawlerz black orc ran and smashed into the Giants players trying to get at the goblin ball carrier

The goblin holding the ball scampered back across the field and handed the ball off to the Brawlerz thrower. He moved Into a better position  and sent the ball sailing down field

Who says Orcs can't pass!

The blitzer snatches the ball out of the air and takes off towards the end zone aided by a block from a  Brawlerz lineman to clear the way

TOUCHDOWN!!!!
Bearwood Brawlerz 1 - 0 Ye Olde Giants

The teams reset. The Giants had faced a pummelling one dead player one badly hurt one and a KO'd player meant they started the game with 10 men.  The Giants knew they needed to get a TD quick otherwise the game would get away from them. The coach shifted the players around using the ogre on the right wing  to punch a hole through the Brawlerz lines and the Giants Catchers sprinted through the gap.  The Giants thrower Eli Manning scooped up the ball and looked for a pass

The Giants thrower launched a long bomb but the pass went off target.
Luckily  the ball didn't land to far from a Giant Catcher

Quite a lucky bounce for the Giants

The Giants also caught a Brawlerz lurking on the sidelines and he was pushed into the waiting crowd. It must have been the Brawlerz fans as he made it back to the dugout mostly unscathed. The Giants catcher grabbed the ball and sprinted for the end zone

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!

Bearwood Brawlerz 1 - 1 Ye Olde Giants

That was half time. As they lost the coin toss and the Brawlerz had elected to receive first half, the Giants would be receiving the ball. So set up to punch their Catchers through again

The Giants scooped up the ball and again attempted to smash their way through Brawlerz line. Thankfully they have an ogre and he wasn't distracted by any local flora so he got stuck in

The thrower gets his pass on target this time
The Catcher grabs the ball and makes for the end zone.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!

Bearwood Brawlerz 1 - 2 Ye Olde Giants

Time was running out and the Brawlerz knew they needed push forward. The ball was kicked off and the Brawlerz started by pounding the line of scrimmage.

The Brawlerz thrower grabbed the ball and headed to the centre where the Brawlerz players were forming a cage.  The ogre got knocked down and as he was getting up he spotted a nice dandelion and so forgot about the match allowing orc players around him.

More players join the cage but 2 Brawlerz catch a Giant player on the edge of the field.

The Cage gets bigger

The Giants Catcher goes for a trip into the crowds
The Catcher managed to get back to the dugout without permanent injury.

The ogre regained his senses as the Dandelion was crushed by an orc lineman. The ogre got up and smashed into the side of the cage

The ogre tackled an orc player who sent the ball carrier sprawling backwards to the edge of the cage. The entire Giants team  surrounded the cage in an attempt to stop the Brawlerz.

An absolulety brutal melee started, the Giants brought the ball carrier down leaving the ball in the open but surrounded by various players

The ball is loose but who will get it!

The Giants struggle to get players to the ball, the Brawlerz realise they only have seconds remaining! The Brawlerz players managed to  push the Giants players out of the way, the Brawlerz thrower grabs the ball and makes a break for open space.  He spots a lone Brawlerz lineman on a rope position and sends the ball sailing through the air. The lineman catches it and runs towards the end zone as the referee puts the whistle to his lips.

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!

Final score Bearwood Brawlerz 2 - 2 Ye Olde Giants.

What a brutal match. The Orcs pummelled the humans for the first half I'm so glad their armour rolls got worse in the second half.

The MVPs were awarded. The Giants Thrower and the Brawlerz Black Orc got the SPP. Just the one level up this time. The Giants thrower  gained Accurate.

The Giants made enough cash and using some from the treasury to hire a new lineman. The Brawlerz bought another re-roll.
That draw has damaged the Brawlerz ideas of top of the league but the draw was better than a loss leaving then a chance.  One match left to be played in this round.  Loving Blood Bowl!!

Need to Step Up My Painting Game

Been looking at my paints recently. I'm a big fan of the 3ft rule. If it looks good from you looking down onto it on the tabletop then I'm happy. I believe I have improved my painting since I started the blog (Still a long way to go I know)

One of the first models I painted when getting back into hobby

One of the more recent ones

but after reading a new blog (Link here) written by my cousin (He has got back into war gaming thanks to my blog mwha ha ha) he mentioned just buying colours instead of trying to mix them all the time from the existing colours you have. I only have about 20 or so Paints. I have tended to buy certain colours I need for models, now I'm looking at trying to bulk out my paint collection. I'm gonna look at contrast paints but also at the moment buying  a darker and a lighter colours to the paints I already own. Oh and get better techniques down, like thinning paints I have started to do this more but I need to be consistent and not stress about getting a model done in one session. Some times you need a few thin coats not one thick one.
The plan will be to pick up a couple of paints each month and expand the collection. I need to have a sit down and write down what paints I have so I know what I need to get.

On the Terrain side I think I have improved the most.. Especially hills 😂.

One of my older hills

My latest expanding foam Hills. Much better I reckon

I have to reduce my terrain making as space is now at a premium in my house.
For painting terrain I tend to use the kids paints for covering large areas as those paints are much cheaper. I then use the war game paints to add details and final touches.
I'm sure I'll  make more at some point (I really want a homemade blood Bowl pitch!!).

Sorry its a bit of random post I tend to write when I get ideas

RCBBL Week 4. Elven Union Vs Dark elves

My friends started week 4 of the RCBBL this week. They sent me some pictures and a write up.  So here it is The Outriders (Elven Union) vs Death Spectres (Dark Elves).

So it’s the next match in the RCBBL band we have the death spectres vs the outriders with the death spectres fielding their new Witch elf. The weather today is a blizzard making conditions treacherous for going for it
So kickoff and the fans of the death spectres are in awe at the new fielding with 12000 fans arriving to support them. The outriders started strong causing a broken ankle to a blitzer of the spectres. With an early push the death spectres score 1-0. Play resets and the outriders are not happy but play continues. Two turns before second half and the outriders surround the downed newly hired witch elf and one fouls her breaking her neck. No sending off.
The second half kicks off with a change in the weather now a perfect day for blood bowl. Play pushes through until out of nowhere the spectres score a second touchdown. Now 2-0 the outriders are not happy and knock down 2 players one receiving a niggling injury and the other being the second witch elf in the spectres roster is left stunned. Seeing this the outriders surround her and kick the hell out of her causing her to miss the next game and with that the final whistle blows and it’s game over final score 2-0 to the spectres

So there you have it. The Death Spectres take the win and move to the number one spot in the league but at what cost? Week four continues.

RCBBL Round 3 Humans vs Dark Elves

After Sundays game cancellation (Thanks to my dog for stealing a mince pie so I had to take him to the vets) we had to reschedule. Friday night was chosen to be game night!
The night came and the teams took to the fields. The Death Spectres (Dark Elves) vs Ye Olde Giants (Humans).
11,000 Giants fans were in the stadium compared to the Spectres 5,000 fans giving the Giants a boost.
The Giants won the toss and elected to receive the ball.

The ball was kicked off and the Giants pushed forward trying to smash a hole through the Spectres defence.

The catcher with the ball stays close to the ogre

The Giants ogre gets embroiled in a fight with at least 5 of the Spectres players. While the Giants catcher with support makes a run for it.

The Spectres defence quickly reacts and swamps the attackers. The witch elf smashing the catcher down.

Meanwhile the ogre loses his battle ends up on the ground

The Witch Elf hitting the catcher had the added bonus (for the Spectres that is) of sending the ball sailing into a Spectres players hands. Defence quickly turned to offence for the Death Spectres! As they drove down the field the Spectres managed to KO the Giants ogre!

Time was running down though and the Spectres elected to throw the ball. The throw how ever was not accurate and didn't reach the target.

The Giants recover the ball but run out of time to make use of it as the half time whistle blew.

Death Spectres 0 - 0 Ye Olde Giants

A few players were revived  for the 2nd half with the exception of the Giants ogre (Which as the human player was very inconvenient!!!).
The ball sailed off the pitch for a touch back.  The Spectres started their drive.

The Giants moved to contain the rush. This is gonna get brutal!

A brutal ruck erupted around the  ball carrier. The Spectre runner dumped the ball off to the witch elf just before he got blitzed! The unlucky runner was killed in the resulting blitz!! Tackles were flying left right and centre. The ball ended up on the floor

There was a scramble for the ball,  A Giants catcher with clearly a lot of faith in his team (or didn't want to get involved in the brawl)  had made a break into open field. The Giants thrower scooped up the ball and sent it arcing towards the open catcher. He caught it beautifully and sprinted for the end zone not an opposing player in sight. He had to stretch to reach the end zone but it proved to much and he failed his last going for it roll crashing to the ground!!!!!

What a muppet!

Not a problem the Giants coach thought. The catcher had made such a break that the opposing players had to use a turn to get close and still they could not reach him till next turn so simple plan get up, pick up ball and score. Oh how Nuffle chuckled.

And that's with a re-roll
The Giants Catcher scrambled to pick up the ball and failed miserable (rolled 1 the re-rolled another 1). As the catcher stared dumbfounded at the ball still on the floor he was shoved back, then again off the pitch and into the baying crowd! The Giants coaching staff managed to drag the unconscious catcher from the clutches of the crowd. Again the  Spectres switched to offence, the witch elf grabbed the ball and ran off up the field. She looked forward realised time was running out and with a primal scream launched the ball towards another Spectre player.

The blitzer caught the ball and ran it onto the end zone for the score!!!!

Death Spectres 1 - 0 Ye Olde Giants

Only two turns left for the Giants, throwing was the name of the game. The ogre decided to join the game (better late than never!).
The kick off was took the ball landed and the Giants went to work. A hole was punched in the Spectres defence and a catcher sped through the gap and up the field. The rest of the team tried to keep the Spectres in check but one tackle took both attacker and defender down ending the turn. The Spectres last turn meant they hit hard. The last turn of the game gave the Giants only one choice! Throw the ball, the thrower grabbed the ball and threw!  But no!!! A Spectre lineman reached up and intercepted it!!! The final whistle blew. Victory to the Death Spectres!!

Death Spectres 1 - 0 Ye Olde Giants

With game over time to for the post game routine. One of my Catchers got MVP and levelled up so I gave him Diving Catch. A blitzer on the Death Spectres team levelled up and gained +1 to MV. 80,000 gold was earned by the Spectres and 70,000 gold earned by the Giants.
A great game was had. Lots of working out the best pathways through tackle zones or around them should I say. That's the end of round 3. The full result list is below

The league as it stands has a joint top 2 but another teams are close behind!

Roll on round 4!!

*The Death Spectres have replaced Slap and Tickle FC
