Merlin Heavy Walker

I got round to actually painting a model. Felt really good to be back painting again. I went with a simple. Scheme so it matches my other walkers.

I'm quite pleased with it.
Just need to add some water effect in the crater. Going to try layers of Pva see how that looks.

British Merlin Walker Konflikt 47

My car passed its MOT so excitedly I had some money to spare. Handily the new British Heavy Walker was being released this month so I swiftly put in my pre order.
Today the delivery man dropped it off thankfully before 10am as well so I quickly got it out of the packet and spent the day in between child care building it. Its a really nice model though I did have to trim some excess resin bits off but nothing major. The arms and legs fit nicely which is a massive help. The weapons fit on beautifully. Now if you've seen my guardian light walker you know I'm partial to a hand to hand weapon. So I raided the bits box.  The initial idea was to have a tank barrel bent and deformed but I didn't have a tank barrel in my bits box. I found sometching that could pass as a tank barrel . I also found a sword out that night work.

The sword

The potential tank barrel

After floating my ideas on the Konflikt 47 Facebook group, the sword seemed more popular as the tank barrel wasn't quite there. The only problem with the sword was it was to small.
I raided the kids toys to see if anything would match. I found this.

This seemed a much better match scale wise and it has a more Arthurian feel to it (It is a Merlin walker after all).  I had heard the base that came with it was a bit small and I had managed to order the wrong size MDF base (D'oh!! ). I planned on using a CD but when I put the model on the disc it looked way to big. I scoured my bits box and found an urban resin base which looks really awesome.  It's around the same size as the original base that came with it but looks much better. The limbs all have ball and socket joints so make posing the model a bit easier.

I think it looks really good. Can't wait to paint it.

15mm Terrain Part 2

Now the filler has dried on the roads I've sanded them all down.

Then I have painted the road surface grey building up from dark grey to light grey. Then some flock on the edges.

The above is the first lot I did and here is the second batch.

I don't think they look to bad. Can't wait to try them

Pokemon TCG and Magic the Gathering

I've been wanting to get into Pokemon TCG for a while now. My friend had been playing it for ages and I thought my kids would also like to play as well as the collecting aspect of it. So I found online a 2 player starter set.

The above set I bought from America (Through Amazon) for only £10. You get 60 cards spilt into 2 decks. A play mat and instructions on how to play. It's very good as each deck is preshuffled and has a guide to run through a game.  You just follow the instructions of what you do each turn (what cards to play what attacks to do etc). This really helps you get the hang of the rules. The 2 decks can be combined into one to player other people as 60 cards is normally the usual deck size.

The play mat has places for all the different areas you need such as Active pokemon and the discard pile.

On hearing I had started collecting Pokemon TCG my awesome friend (Alex from Alex does Hobby Stuff) dropped off this massive pile of pokemon cards off for me and my sons. We were super grateful.

We've played 2 or 3 games and so far the rules are really simple and my 5 year old has already picked up the rules. Next we will make up our own decks and battle away!

Also the people I played Dungeons and Dragons with are into Magic the Gathering. Reading them talk about it peaked my interest. I'm not worried and legal or illegal cards so I purchased 100 cards off eBay for around £3. My friends also gave me a load of land cards to help finish my decks.
For father's day my kids brought me a few booster packs to bolster my collection plus some folders and card holders to make my cards a bit more organised.

Not yet played a game of Magic the Gathering but hopefully will once time permits. I have watched a few videos on line and the game seems simple to play.

Have a good un guys!

Village Attack (Aftermath)

Sgt Harwood rushed (well as much as you can Rush in the heavy Galahad armour) to the village centre. A group of soldiers had gathered around Lt Jenkins, who was on the floor. Harwood pushed through the crowd,
"Move lads let me get in. Medic here yet? "
"it's.... OK Sgt Harwood no rush" a pained voice said. He looked down and saw Lt Jenkins lying on his back, his uniform a burnt mess but he seemed to have took most of the damage on his rift tech armour.
"Bloody hell sir you are a lucky blighter" Harwood smiled,
"I'm not keen on your definition of lucky Sgt. I've been set upon by wolf men, flamed and all in the last 2 months!"
The crowd of soldiers chuckled. Harwood smiled, lent down and offered a hand to Lt Jenkins. He pulled the officer to his feet,
"You two, get the Lt  onto a truck and back to base." he pointed at 2 of his men who got Lt and helped him away.
A crowd of villagers were thanking the soldiers and helping bandage ones head.
"Ernie the PIAT loader got hit but he's OK grazed his head but as he fell back he knocked himself out on a tree trunk, poor Bert nearly had a heart attack. Still he got that Puma that was prowling around with his PIAT. We stopped Lange today. That will teach the sod." a female voice said.
Harwood turned and saw Captain Daniels the Mudskipper pilot walking over, she had a cut across her head. In the distance he spotted the walker listing to the side. It's left leg mangled and smouldering. Lt Fellow was yelling at a tank recovery unit who were trying to get the walker back to base. Captain Daniels smiled,
"Lt Fellow is not a happy lady. She wanted to get out and shoot the bugger that hit us, thankfully her cockpit was jammed."
Harwood smirked,
"You did well, I've seen to many walkers and tanks fall foul of Panzershrecks. Would have hated to see you guys get hit Ma'am"
Captain Daniels grinned,
"Thank you Sgt. Right I best stop her from murdering those poor engineers" with that she walked off back to the stricken Mudskipper. Harwood watched her go. A Scottish voice loudly said,
"Fine walker pilot that girl. Got a lot of balls leaping being the lines and that. Bloody Panzershrecks" Harwood turned and faced the new Guardian walker pilot, who stuck out his hand,
"Good to meet you. Sgt Stewart though everyone calls me Jock."
They shook hands, Harwood regarded the Scot. He was medium build, his face had oil stains on it and his overalls were sweat stained but  he had a tough no nonsense look to his face. Harwood could tell he had seen a few battles. Harwood asked while he pulled out his canteen, he offered it to the Sgt.
"How'd you get on? We had bloody shreckwulfen on our side. Glad we didn't have to tangle with them."
Sgt Stewart scratched his oil stained face and pulled out a hip flask which he offered Harwood. They swapped containers, Harwood took a swig from the flask and the whisky it contained went down very nicely Harwood thought to himself .  Sgt Stewart swigged the canteen and handed it back,
"Aye they are proper buggers. I didn't do to badly almost bloody blown up but they missed. Lucky for me. Not so lucky for them. Blast of the flame thrower and they were soon off. Oh sorry about your officer, poor bugger took a flamethrower to the face. I got the sod that did it though, smacked him with me flail!! Ha ha ha ha ha"
Harwood looked where the Scots walker stood and noticed a blood stained cracked wall. He looked away. The Scotsman continued,
"poor bugger really but seeing an officer go down I got all rilied up. Anyway laddie I best suit up got to escort the convey home. You best get a move on to friend be a long walk back in that tin can" he winked and jogged off to his walker.
Cheeky sod Harwood thought but couldn't help but smile. He headed to the trucks as they were getting ready to pull out.

Village Attack (Battle Report)

Tonight saw the British rushing to try and stop the evil Professor Lange's German forces kidnapping some villagers for his diabolical experiments (scenario rules Here and build up story Here). Basically there are 3 objectives who ever holds the most wins.

Tonight's battle field

The Brits line up on the village outskirts.

The Germans advance towards to village

Both forces lined up across the board edges, pretty much even. A squad on each flank and the vehicles in the centre.

The British snipers climbed the church tower to get a good view of the village

The Mudskipper concerned with the Puma in the distance advanced cautiously

On the right flank. The British advanced through some light woods

On the left flank the Tommies advanced with Guardian Walker support

On the Germans left flank the Schreckwulfen advanced followed by a machine gun squad

The German Puma advances down the road running through the village

Both sides had closed the distance and the gunfire would start soon.

British sniper unit hit the German MMG team

On the right flank the Brit infantry started shooting at the Germans with little effect

The British infantry on the left secured the building in front of the objective

Lt Jenkins moved through the church yard and fired at the MMG team

The Mudskipper moved over and finished the German MMG team off

The German snipers crawled to the top of the hill. While a German squad worked its way round the hill

A strong German moved into the village centre

Schreckwulfen advance

The Nachtjager leap onto the building surveying the Mudskipper and other forces below

The Mudskipper fearing an assault activated its jump engines and leaped over the building

Unfortunatly the Mudskipper didn't spot  Panzershreck and paid the price. The Mudskippers leg was destroyed and the walker was disabled

The German sniper team take up position

The British infantry in the house on the left flank pour fire onto the advancing Germans

The British sniper tries to kill the Nachtjager on the opposite building

The Galahads on the British right flank slowly advance pouring fire from their LMGs

The Nachtjager swoop down onto Lt Jenkins and his bodyguard.

Unfortunately my opponent rolled this in the ensuring close combat. Lt Jenkins killed both Nachtjager.

A German squad pushes forward firing Panzerfausts at the Guardian Walker. They streak past the walker who retaliates with its flamethrower. Bathing the Germans in flame, killing some and making the rest flee.

On the British Right flank the regular infantry desperately shoot at the hiding Schreckwulfen.

The Guardian walker turns its attention to the Puma. Its HMG blasting away.

My Mudskipper was immobilised in the enemy's rear and only really had one target, the German sniper team on the hill. It eventually killed the Germans and amazingly survived several more Panzershreck shots.

The German Puma and flame thrower secured the centre objective.

Despite suffering a casualty my PIAT team stepped up again and took out the Puma with a side shot.

My Galahads on the right flank covered the slightly open area keeping the Shreckwulfen at bay.

On the British left flank I secured the objective.

The British on the left flank poured fire into the advancing German squad. Helped by the Galahads they wiped them out.

Most fire now turned on the German flame thrower holding the middle objective but he would not budge.

The Panzershreck helped secure the middle objective and in a bold move the flame thrower rushed forward and flamed Lt Jenkins knocking him out of action.

Seeing his leader took out the Guardian walker charged forward and stomped on the flame thrower.

The final turn ended with the British in control of 2 objectives and the Germans 1. So a British win, Professor Lange's forces were defeated for now.

A great game, really enjoyable to play and had me thinking lots. I absolutely love my Galahads I have to say!
