Devils Outcasts Funky Skull Games

My very awesome friend and regular opponent (check out his Blog) got in on the kickstarter from Funky Skull Games. This kickstarter was for a female Gang called the Mollies I believe. The rule set was Street Wars NYC. I've had them sat on my painting queue for a while and finally got round to painting them.  So meet the guys

I used the new Gulliman Flesh Contrast paint on these guys. Think I need a bit more practice with it as to me it seems a bit to dark. Maybe I used it to heavily and let it pool to much. I'll have to keep trying.

Destroy Storage Tanks (Aftermath)

Captain Daniels awoke with a start. Her head was pounding, she remembered using the jump drive to try and get round the flank of the Tiger X, then seeing a flash from the Tigers rail gun and then an almighty smash hit Andraste and it all went black. She quickly scanned around, she appeared to be mostly unharmed but she could feel her back getting hotter and hotter.
"Bugger she's on fire!" she shouted. Captain Daniels clawed at the canopy lock and pushed it open.
"Come on Caroline get out!!!"
With the canopy open thick acrid smoke hit Captain Daniels. Andraste was burning badly. She looked at Lt Fellows canopy but all that was there was ruined, fused and bent metal. She forced her self to look further and found the Lt motionless her body smashed beyond help. Captain Daniels climbed over to try and drag her friend clear but the walker fire was getting worse and she was forced to jump clear. The Andraste exploded, the force pushing Captain Daniels to the ground. She drew her side arm and crawled to a nearby wall. Captain Daniels stared at the burning wreck, hate and pain seething through her. A guardian walker strode up behind the ruined Andraste. The top hatch popped and a head came into view.
"You OK there? How the hell did you survive that?!"
"I'm fine they killed my Co pilot and my walker!, God damn it go get those buggers!!!" she screamed,
"Yes Ma'am!" the head disappeared and the walker lurched forward to carry on the battle. Captain Daniels lent back against the wall and listened to the sound of battle. Soon a halftrack pulled up and some British infantry helped her into the half track. She didn't want to leave the Andraste or Lt Fellows. They'd at least managed to get her dog tags from the wreck. Capt Daniels lent back against the truck side listening to the Infantry talk.
"I'm telling you sarge. That Tiger aimed its gun at me!"
"Don't be daft Pike!!"
"Sarge he was the barrel was pointing at me".
By the cherry nature of their talk Captain Daniels assumed the mission was a success.
Back at the muster point Captain Daniels waited for her ride back to Unit 24s base. A tall sandy haired man sat next to her,
"Captain Daniels is it?" he said with a thick Birmingham accent. She nodded,  a bit aggrieved her peace and quiet had been interrupted.
"Names Captain James Blake. I pilot Caradoc the Merlin walker. Sorry about your Co pilot and your walker. Damn rail guns."
"What do you know about it!" Captain Daniels snapped, instantly regretting it.
"Lost 2 tanks, a walker and to many friends to those blasted things." Captain Blake said. Captain Daniels looked at Blake
"Look. I'm sorry about that, not had the best day"
"no bother Ma'am. I know how you feel. I didn't come over here just to harass you, I was pointed in your direction as I've been transferred to a Unit 24?" he looked at a piece of paper to check.
"Major Whitaker does have his spies everywhere. Well I'm waiting for a transport that's supposed to be passing through. Your welcome to follow me with your walker." Captain Daniels said with a grin.
"Cracking! I'll go and fetch Caradoc." Captain Blake  stood up and jogged over to  Caradoc,
"Fire him up Jarvis!"  Captain Blake shouted. The walker engines spooled up. Captain Blake cambered up the walkers arms and climbed across into the cockpit.
"Captain. All systems green across the board" A robotic voice said.
Blake spotted a bren carrier stop by Captain Daniels, she pointed at the walker and waved. The Bren carrier moved out,
"Thanks Jarvis. Let's go find our new unit"
The Merlin strode off after the Bren Carrier

Destroy Storage Tanks (Battle Report)

Tonight saw an armoured clash between the British and Germans. The British were targeting one of Professor Lange's storage facilities and aiming to destroy the 2 storage tanks.

The storage facility

The British armoured unit arrives

The German defenders roll out

The Merlin advances

One of the Guardian walkers runs ahead

The Mudskipper being well aware of the Tigers Railgun takes cover

The Firefly takes a shot at the Tiger X
The second Guardian walker moves out to the left flank

The Tiger X returns fire at the Firefly its Railgun making short work of the Sherman

A long range effort from the Merlin goes wide

The walker on the right flank takes cover

Hoping the Tiger is distracted by the Merlin it makes a bold move

Which ends very badly!

At this point I was seriously worried. My opponent had a Tiger x and Zeus guarding the centre of the board both equipped with guns that can tear through all armour

On the left flank the Guardian moved from cover to cover

On the right the Guardian took cover behind the knocked out Mudskipper

The Bren Carrier eagerly r to drop the Automatons off came up with a genius plan to avoid the Tiger. Hide beneath some built up earth works

Seizing an opportunity the walker on the left flank charges the Tiger but fails to get through the thick armour

The Merlin misses again this time at the Zeus. The British infantry advance from the half track

The Zeus quickly destroys the Guardian after its failed attack on the Tiger

The sole surviving Guardian moves up on the right

The Merlin hits the Tiger in the side and blows it up!

With the Tiger gone that was the one weapon I truly feared out of the way. My Merlin had a chance against the AT gun but the railgun with +8 was to scary for my liking.

The last Guardian charges the Zeus hoping to do better than his fellow walker

Which he does!!! His flail smashes into the Zeus and knocks it out

Bert and Ernie strike again taking out the Puma

The last turn and the Germans had infantry dug in stopping me get any of my squads close enough so I had to take a pot shot from my Merlin.

The Merlin lands a lucky hit blowing a storage tank to pieces

The last Guardian walker charges the other  storage Tank destroying it for the game win.

Brilliant game tonight. The Germans did some solid defending, I only broke through on the last turn. The Tiger held the centre brilliantly and took out two vehicles before being knocked out. The Merlin did really well on its first outing. I was a bit cautious with it as I lost my Firefly and Mudskipper by turn 3. Really enjoyable game!

Destroy Storage Tanks (scenario)

Destroy Storage Tanks (Build up)

Captain Lucy Daniels conducted her usual walk around Andraste. She checked the jump units of the Mudskipper at the rear and the newly repaired leg. She winced remembering the impact of the Panzershreck on her poor walker. Though they were incredibly lucky they didn't get hit with a second shot. The walkers engines spooled up with the distinct sound Rift technology makes as Lt Fellows started Andraste up. Capt Daniels made sure the HMG ammo drums were secure and walked over to the engineer fussing around the walker also.
"she's all good Davis. Tell your lads good work"
Davis took his cap off, smiled and in his rough Yorkshire accent said
"Thanks Ma'am try and bring her back in one piece this time aye?"
Capt Daniels laughed,
"Cheeky blighter!"
She took her helmet off where it was hanging and climbed the ladder. Lt Fellows was already in her seat checking screens.
"All set Caroline" she asked as she settled in her chair.
"All ready Capt. Let's go bag some Germans"
Captain Daniels lowered the canopy and scanned round the field. They'd been co-opted into joining this Armoured platoon, everything happened in a rush after they had discovered the location of some storage tanks used by Professor Lange for god knows what. Major Whitaker had wanted a Unit 24 presence on the raid and Andraste was the fastest walker he had and happened to be very close at the repair yard.  A group of soldiers climbed aboard a half track flanked by 2 Guardian walkers, a man stood on a Sherman Firefly yelling and pointing at various people. That was the CO today, Capt Daniels had briefly met him where he had said he wasn't a fan of female walker pilots. What an arse she thought, she noticed a lot of the engineers looking all in one direction. Something behind a barn. Then round the corner came a walker, a shape she had never seen before. Taller than Andraste, a cannon of some sort on its soldier, HMGs under one arm and carrying a giant sword. The single glowing red lens in its head swept around. Not dissimilar to an Automaton Capt Daniels  thought.
The radio crackled into life
"Caradoc reporting for duty."
The Merlin walker took up position in the column. Capt Daniels engaged the controls and the force moved out.

Scenario Terrain

For our next konflikt 47 battle we needed some terrain pieces to represent targets for the allies to destroy. These will be storage tanks. I had this idea when I was putting away the kids Bionicle packets.
I based them on CDs, put some pipe outlets on, added a ladder and filler around the bottom.

Then they were spray painted

Now I started painting. I went with a simple colour scheme of grey as they are just storage tanks. I tried to add a very basic water effect to show a chemical dribbling down the side of one tank. To do this I used layers of pva glue.

In the pics its not quite dry as you can see but it seems OK for a very basic job.
Here they are in all their finished glory

The numbers I'm totally happy with but they'll do for the game on Friday.

I've Been Painting Again!

Having undercoated a load of minis, I decided that I should start painting. I started with my 2 gladiators that I purchased for my Broken Legions band. This will be a slow build up maybe a miniature every month or couple of months.
The gladiators are very different from what I'm used to painting (no green!). A while back my wife bought me some Games Workshop paints that she liked as my miniatures are all green so I decided to use some of these. I went with a gold coloured armour and purple cloth.

The next one has slightly less armour but only slightly less.

I think they are a nice simple paint scheme. Can't wait to add more to the band.

Next up was some WW2 American Infantry I got free with a copy of Wargames Illustrated. I have no real plans for an American army but thought these models would be useful in a scenario arii or 2 I devise for our Konflikt 47 narrative campaign. Now the colour scheme is not 100% accurate but its the best I could do with what I have.

I've also ordered Gullimans flesh Contrast paint to see if that will solve my painting  skin tone problems.
Have a great day!
