Pirates of the Dread sea Elf Pirate

A while back I told you I had backed another Kickstarter from Dead Earth Games. The model arrived in early Jan I believe and I completely forgot to post about it. It is an amazing sculpt.

Here she is based
I based her on coffee stirers to replicate planks from a ship's deck
Spent a couple of nights painting and here is the result.

My wife decided on the colour scheme as I
"Paint all my minis dull colours" (direct quote).

I think she has came out really well

Fist of Mars (Aftermath)

Lt Jenkins watched the German infantry survivors retreat into the distance.  He grimaced, they had  the Fist of Mars with them he had failed and yet his force had destroyed most of the German units. Vehicles approached the battle field. Major Whitaker got out of a jeep.  Lt Jenkins started walking over,  disappointed his first mission had been a failure.  Before he could get there 2 soldiers approached the Major. He recognised them as Bert and Ernie the PIAT team. As he got closer he heard them talking to the Major,
"Sir you never said nothing about weird vampire German officers!!  "
"Come on now Bert.  Vampires?" The Major didn't look like convinced.
"Sir begging your pardon, E' was pale as milk and had fangs.  He tried to bite poor Ernie! I smashed him over the noggin with old Martha here" he gestured to his PIAT,
"I swear I crushed his skull ! But he got right back up again! I won't lie we scarpered sharpish " the Major looked perturbed.
Lt Jenkins saluted the Major.
"Berts correct sir.  I saw the officer to I know I put a burst of my assault rifle into him and it did nothing. "
"Ok then thank you gentleman. What happened to this German? "
Bert tapped his PIAT
"Martha here took care of him. Hit him square in the chest left a nice hole. "  pride shone across both Bert and Ernies face.
"Good show!  We can take the body back and study it." Major Whitaker smiled.
" We can't find it sir." Lt Jenkins interrupted.
"Can't find it?" Came the puzzled reply.
"We went back to check after the Germans had gone and found  just a pool of bloo....something but no corpse" Lt Jenkins said.
"Intriguing,  right you to well done now off you go get yourselves a brew." Major Whitaker said. Bert and Ernie saluted. They walked off towards the Sherman Firefly whose crew were stretching their legs.
Lt Jenkins could hear Bert and Ernie hurling insults at them.
"See that Tiger ?? Nah you buggers didn't lucky we were around! "

"Right Lieutenant,  obviously I couldn't say in front of the men but that creature you saw. Is one OberFuhrer Klingemann. Intel says Lange has been sending him medicine. It appears to have changed him drastically.  The boffins will need a report on him, what you saw anything will help.
Right the Germans  got the Fist of Mars not good. " Major Whitaker said a seriousness in his voice.
"Sorry sir.  No excuse we failed. " Lt Jenkins said .
"A set back Jenkins indeed but don't be to hard on your self.  Those Nachtjager stumbling across it as soon as they arrived was pure bad luck. You smashed a significant German force here today. That Tiger" he pointed to the burning Tiger,
"Was the feared Lieselotte. Sgt Havocs' unit has lost many tanks to that rail gun. So some small victories.  Right let's get back to base and debrief.  Hopefully  intelligence will be able to find out what Lange is up to and what happened to that Klingeman fellow"

Fist of Mars (Battle Rep)

Last night we played an amazing game of Konflikt 47 with some crazy dice rolls.

Tonight's Battlefield

Germans deployment

British Deployment

The German infantry in trucks drove forward towards several of the potential objectives. The lead truck over the bridge took fire from a squad of British infantry.

The Guardian walker heads towards a possible objective

British sniper adds fire to the trucks

The Nachtjager leapt onto a possible objective and discovered in a stream the Fist of Mars!!! (Only the second turn as well!!)
They raised the artifact in triumph, several British units directed fire at them bringing one down .

Anti Tank rifle down puts a Nachtjager down

The British in the centre focused fire on the Germans coming over the bridge and slowly advanced themselves . The Sherman Firefly manoeuvred carefully as the Germans  had brought a Tiger X to the battle.

Nachtjager clings to the artifact.
German infantry in the centre jumped out of the truck as more fire was aimed at it.

Germans dismount

More fire was aimed at the Nachtjager but it would not be killed. On the left flank the Guardian walker  spotted a German sniper team dismounting.  The walker raised its left arm and flamed the snipers incinerating them.

Flame on!

PIAT Team misses from point blank range

A Kubelwagon was following the truck, it took a volley of bullets from a squad of British infantry.

Kubelwagon destroyed

The SS officer retreats from the stricken vehicle

Meanwhile on the left flank dismounting the truck was a squad of German infantry.  Four panzerfausts flew at the Guardian walker, one struck blowing up the walker in one go.

Shreckwulfen bound last the burning wreckage
The trick that made it over the bridge in the centre of the board pulled over on the right and out climbed a sinister and evil looking German officer.

Oberfuhrer Klingemann makes an appearance!

The Nachtjager bounded away with the Fist of Mars. As it landed ready to take its prize back to Professor Lange, a bullet from the anti tank rifle team struck the Nachtjager and killed it. This was a ridiculously lucky roll but was desperately needed!! The objective fell to the ground and now the rush was on to grab it.

The British troops rush forward.
Klingemann charged the British PIAT team but did not manage to cause an injury. In return the PIAT team smashed Klingemann over the head with the PIAT but to their horror he got straight back up again. They swiftly retreated away From the horrific German officer.

Lt Jenkins shoots at Klingemann but the bullets have no effect

With Klingemann distracted, the PIAT Team desperately loaded the PIAT. They fired and the projectile struck Klingemann in the chest. The German collapsed and did not move.

Klingemann is finally stopped........For now

The German Tiger which has held the German centre turned now to intercept the British moving up towards the objective.  It fired it's massive rail gun but missed.

Tiger shoots at infantry off to the right

Hearing the railgun fire, the Firefly tank moved cautiously through a little pass and spotted the Tiger .

Firefly misses a shot at the Tigers side armour

The British sniper spotted the SS officer cowering in cover and fired.

Spotting the SS officer the sniper fires, taking him down

The German infantry in the centre attempt to hold up the British advance while their other forces race to secure the objective.

The Germans hit the British infantry but they hit back wiping out the German squad.
On the pretty redundant left flank the Automatons shoot at a unit of shreckwulfen taking 2 down. In revenge the lone shreckwulfen bounded towards the automatons but his charge fell an inch short! Next turn the Automatons fired at the Shreckwulfen. 5 MMG toting  Automatons that's 25 shots!! The Shreckwulfen survived a hail of fire. It's tough skill shrugged off 4 hits! !! In revenge it leapt into the Automatons and destroyed them.

Shreckwulfen shrugs off the gunfire
British forces race across the stream towards the objective

I tried to push my infantry forward but the same squad fails it's order test twice so didn't move when I really needed them to!

The PIAT Team moved quickly while the Tiger tank was distracted shooting at the infantry trying to get to the objective. They carefully aimed and (Thanks to rolling 3 sixes in a row ) BOOM!!!! The Tiger was struck in the side armour and knocked out.

I'll never doubt my PIAT team again!

The German remaining infantry squad grabbed the objective and became the subject of a hail of fire from virtually every British unit.

The German  infantry grabbed the artifact.

The lone Shreckwulfen found itself behind the British lines.  It leapt onto the sniper team who promptly failed their horror check so couldn't stand and shoot.  They were destroyed.
The British pounded the remaining German squad who were holding the objective  but the veterans were not budging .

Sniper Team down!

6 pins but still not letting go the Germans secrue the Fist of Mars

Caught with not enough forces in the right area the British can do nothing .

Absolutely amazing game. Some of the dice rolls were incredible. The Shreckwulfen shrugging off so much gunfire. The anti tank rifle team taking the Nachtjager out at long range.  The PIAT team destroying the Tiger. The Germans took a pounding but held the objective for the win. What will professor Lange find out about the Fist of Mars and what diabolical plans will be come up with next!

Home Brew Konflikt 47 British Character

After I found a weird war miniature from WestWind Productions, I always wanted to incorporate it onto our K47 Narrative campaign.  I asked around on the konflikt 47 Facebook group and using their suggestions I based the character around the American paragon trooper Slammer Samuel's . I changed the skills slightly to reflect my vision of what the model will be.

The character is Lt Jenkins (mentioned here). He met his end battling a unit of Shreckwulfen. This was just the twist I needed to give me a character to bring back. I wrote a brief short story (First part Here) over 2 blog posts to start to introduce Lt Jenkins back

Lt Jenkins

Lt Jenkins 120pts

1st Lt
Tough
Tough Fighter
Strong
Keep Calm and Carry On (any British units within 12" negate the effect of one pin marker )
Weapon - Assault rifle
May also be accompanied by up to 2 Veteran men at +13pts each

I think this works nicely, he's tough but still killable so not an abuse of the rules.

Tanks Modern Age Half Term Battle

It's half term here so yesterday I had both boys to look after (5 years and 3 years). I thought I would try a game of Tanks Modern Age with my 5 year old ( just using basic shooting movement rules). He chose the Russians so he could have 3 tanks and I got to play my Brits  (2 Chieftains and a Lynx helicopter).

My son's platoon

My platoon

I set up my 3 x 3 game board, I don't have any 15mm terrain. I thought my game board would be reasonable plus my normal trees. I also chose a few ruins just to give a built up feel  to my urban section.

The game board

We had a  simple mission, blow everyone on the opposing team up! The Russians started in the urban area and my platoon came in from the countryside.

The Russians advance

Both sides advanced and exchanged fire.  My son was gunning for my lynx.

Shots fired!

Machine gun fire lit up the air catching the Lynx, sending it to the ground in a ball of fire

Boom!

The 3 Russian tanks pummelled my 2 tanks who gave out some solid hits.

My Chieftains damage points were dropping fast and then my phone battery died. So no pictures of the Russian tanks encircling my 2 tanks who frantically tried to get out of the way.  One Chieftain  succumbed. The last Chieftain  finally destroyed one T-64  before being destroyed. My son loved the game  (He won which helps !) which was awesome and I can't wait to play again (and destroy him! !!!!).  I need to have another read up on helicopters to get her the rules down.
Really love this game !!

Fist of Mars (Build up)

Sgt Harwood walked into the briefing hut tucked away in Unit 24s base . There was a buzz around as people filed in something big was happening. He found his Galahad squad already sat down and nodded as they motioned to a seat they had saved.  He looked around at the troops walking in and spotted a short man in a tankers uniform cigarette clamped between his teeth walking in and sitting near the front.
"Attention!" Someone yelled, instinctively everyone stood to attention.  Major Whitaker and his aides walked in clutching maps and folders.  Major Whitaker stood at the front of the room in a raised stage and motioned everyone to sit down.
"Morning Gentleman. I know you have known something has been going well now you can find out what all the secret meetings have been about."
Whitaker pulled a roller down showing an old painting. Harwood was intrigued, the painting showed what looked like a Roman warrior raising a  fiery gauntlet to the sky, what this had to do with the briefing he had no idea. A murmur rippled around the room.
"This is a 14th century painting of a Roman warrior believed to be Acacius. You'll notice his rather fiery fist. That is believed to be the Fist of Mars . A gauntlet of immense power"
Somebody  scoffed in the audience.
"Yes Rogers  have you something to add?" Whitaker asked dryly, an awkward few seconds passed.
"Right. Now I know most of you are thinking why does a tommie  like me need to be bothered by this . " he pointed at the gauntlet  to be honest Harwood couldn't see what Whitaker was getting at.
"The Gauntlet is supposed to imbune the wearer with significant power , now I'm not convinced by this but 3 years ago if you said we would be fighting the walking dead and werewolves you would have been put in the nuthouse. Even so I don't think we want the Germans getting hold the gauntlet at all.  I believe I have located the Gauntlets resting place. Or at least pinned it down to an area. Unfortunately the Germans have also discovered this fact. " a flash of anger went across his face;
"We will get to the bottom of that little matter I assure you." He pulled a map down and using a stick pointed out various things on the map.
Harwood listened and made a few notes that he thought could be relevant.
The Major finished his briefing,
"OK gentleman, since the sighting of the Tiger X with Lange's forces and rumours of a possible Zeus class walker. I put in a request for some more anti tank." A cough rang out,
"Don't worry Bert you and that PIAT are still our best anti tank weapon" Major Whitaker chuckled.  Everyone laughed a soldier stood up and bowed.
"OK settle down. I'd like to introduce you to Sgt Jones commander of the Firefly tank Havoc. He'll be assisting us on an indefinite basis" the man in tank uniform Harwood had spotted earlier acknowledged people looking at him.
"You'll notice I have not mentioned who is in charge of this operation,  we have a new lieutenant, well new to most of you. Sgt Harwood and his men might recognise him. "
Harwoods mind raced, his men glanced amongst themselves, Harwood went through the officers he knew and couldn't come up with a name. Major Whitaker continued
"Don't worry everyone this isn't his  first ramble and now he is Rift tech improved. " People started to whisper and talk in disbelief. A door opened and in marched a lieutenant. People started to talk even more as he strode in. He had what appeared to be a pneumatic fist powered by some kind of apparatus on his back and half his face was covered by a plate . He had one glowing red eye . Harwood thought he recognised the officer but it couldn't be .  No way could it be. The lieutenant stood next to Major Whitaker,
"This is Lt Jenkins formerly of the Parachute regiment and colleague of our Galahad squad."
Harwood stopped and stared.  It wasn't possible was it?

The Fist of Mars (Scenario)

Next up in our Konflikt 47 narrative campaign is the Fist of Mars Scenario

Major Whitaker has located 'The Fist of Mars' . An ancient artifact hidden through the ages.  It is believed too be the gauntlet of the God of war Mars and hold immense power.  Major Whitaker is not convinced by the rumours of power but still believes getting hold of it before the Germans is the right move. German intelligence has found out the location from the British and have dispatched forces to get there before the British.

Forces

1500pts per side

Turns

5 Turns  (6 on a 4+ roll)

Victory Conditions

The winner is the side which has  in it's  possession the artifact art the end of the game.

Artifact

Take 4 objective markers that look the same (Poker chips or folded up blank paper etc).  Mark one somehow and lay it down covering the mark.  Mix up the markers and each player places 2 objectives around centre of board.  No where within 18 inches of board end.  When a model gets in base to base contact of an objective, flip it over if nothing carry on but if it is the marked objective you keep it with the nose that found it.
The marker can be passed amongst units should they be in base to base contact. If a unit holding the marker is destroyed by weapon fire leave the objective where they were  destroyed.  If the unit is destroyed by an assault the market transfers over to the victorious unit

More Hills!

Just a short post to show you some more hills I've been making.  Using the the same expanding foam hills video I mentioned before in another post Here.

This time I used expanding foam . £3 for a small tin from my local hardware shop.  I sprayed it onto sone large cardboard and once they had expanded and hardened I cut the card to make bases .

I wanted a big hill so I made 1 big hill and 2 smaller ones.  I used the same technique mentioned in the blog I already linked to do I won't go in depth.
Next up was carving out the shape. The expanding foam is super easy to carve.

Then I applied filler all over, once that was dry i added gravel

Then it was just painting. A couple of layers of grey then a lighter grey on top. The gravel is painted brown

Then flock added and all done.
Here are the finished articles

 Right no more hills 😂!
